Mr. Sauer is a Vice President at Homestead Capital and is a member of the firm’s Investment Committee. He is primarily focused on the management and acquisition of Homestead’s permanent crop investments. Mr. Sauer has spent a majority of his life and career as a third-generation farmer at Sauer Orchards, a fruit farm owned and operated by his family in southwestern Michigan. He also spent time at Merrill Lynch as a Financial Analyst. Mr. Sauer holds a B.B.A. in Finance from Western Michigan University, and earned his M.B.A. from the Haas School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley. He is also a member of the American Society of Farm Managers and Rural Appraisers.

Dr. Tony WindhamVice President, Row Crops
Dr. Windham is a Vice President at Homestead Capital and is a member of the firm’s Investment Committee. He is primarily focused on the management and acquisition of Homestead’s row crop investments. Dr. Windham previously served 28 years with the University of Arkansas Division of Agriculture, and was most recently Director of the Arkansas Cooperative Extension Service. While at the University of Arkansas, Dr. Windham was responsible for leading the statewide research and extension programs with the goal of improving farmer productivity and profitability. He has deep experience in agricultural finance, crop budgeting, commodity marketing and farm management. Dr. Windham earned his B.S. degree in Agricultural Engineering Technology and Business and his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Agricultural Economics from Mississippi State University. He is a member of the American Society of Farm Managers and Rural Appraisers where he served as Chair of the Editorial Committee and as a member of the Executive Council as Academic Vice President. Dr. Windham is a native of Scott County, Mississippi where he grew up on a beef cattle farm.
Mr. Ryan Gallant, CFAManaging Director, Head of Acquisitions
Mr. Gallant is a Managing Director and Head of Acquisitions at Homestead Capital and is a member of the firm’s Investment Committee. He focuses on all aspects of the firm’s capital allocation decisions including underwriting, capital expenditures, risk management, portfolio construction, and dispositions. Mr. Gallant’s background includes a diverse range of analytical investment experience prior to joining Homestead, most recently as a Vice President in the Global Investment Research Division of Goldman Sachs where he was a high yield and distressed debt analyst. He began his career at J.P. Morgan where he initially focused on portfolio construction and risk management for a suite of global multi-asset class investment vehicles and later traded fixed income securities. Mr. Gallant holds a B.S.E. in Mechanical Engineering from Duke University and is a CFA charterholder.
Mr. Peter Susko, CFAChief Financial Officer
Mr. Susko is the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) at Homestead Capital. He was formerly a portfolio manager and member of the Investment Committee at Swift Real Estate Partners. Mr. Susko has over 25 years of experience in real estate investing and finance. Prior to joining Swift Real Estate Partners Mr. Susko was a Director at Deutsche Bank/RREEF and was CFO of a family office in the San Francisco Bay Area. Mr. Susko received a B.A. from the University of Rochester, a J.D. from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), and a M.B.A. from the University of California, Berkeley.
Ms. Andrea DavidsonFinance Director, Controller
Ms. Davidson is the Finance Director/Controller at Homestead Capital. She has over ten years of operations, financial accounting and tax compliance and consulting services experience in the investment industry. Prior to joining Homestead, Ms. Davidson was an Accounting Manager at Capricorn Investment Group. Prior to Capricorn, she was a Senior Tax Associate at PwC in their Asset Management practice. Ms. Davidson received her B.A. in Business Management Economics and her M.S. in Applied Economics and Finance from the University of California, Santa Cruz. She is a Certified Public Accountant.
Jess VilsackOutsourced General Counsel
Jess Vilsack is a partner at Nyemaster Goode. He focuses on commercial and business matters, specializing in negotiating business agreements, and resolving business disputes. He often assists clients in a capacity similar to an in-house general counsel, advising clients about strategic legal and business issues, and conducting internal investigations. Jess has a network of legal, business, and political contacts and frequently assists clients in developing and enhancing relationships with local, state, and federal governments.
Before joining the firm, Jess worked as in-house counsel for MidAmerican Energy Company and as a prosecutor in the Polk County Attorney’s Office. Jess has considerable trial experience, having served as lead counsel in more than 30 jury trials as a prosecutor. Jess started his legal career as a law clerk to the Honorable Ronald E. Longstaff, Chief Judge of the United States District Court for the Southern District of Iowa.
Jess received his B.A. from Hamilton College, Clinton, New York, in 2000. He graduated with distinction from the University of Iowa College of Law in 2003. During law school, Jess studied at the London Law Consortium in London, England.
Aleah DawsonOffice Administrator, Project Manager
Ms. Dawson is the Office Administrator/Project Manager at Homestead Capital.
Prior to joining Homestead, she was an Executive Assistant and Special Aide to the CEO at HealthTap, a healthcare technology company in Palo Alto. Before that she was a Project Coodinator and Executive Assistant to the Director of Architecture and Planning at Skidmore, Owings & Merrill in San Francisco.
Ms. Dawson holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California, Berkeley.
